A Pilgrimage of Indie Game IPs: A Warm Journey of Childhood Companionship

Tucked away in Tokyo is a distinctive niche game arcade. Unlike noisy mainstream entertainment venues, it holds a unique sanctuary for indie game enthusiasts. The third floor of the store displays and sells official peripherals and limited-edition artist autograph illustrations of various indie games, which is the sacred spot my child and I traveled far to visit.

Our main purpose for this trip was to search for merchandise of three classic indie game IPs that have accompanied my child for years: Undertale, Hollow Knight, and Deltarune. To our great delight, we found a rich collection of exquisite peripherals and original signed artworks for all three games here, each piece embodying the unique tenderness and charm of indie games.

Watching my child walk slowly up the stairs, gazing softly at the vivid game characters covering the walls, I fell into quiet reflection. These game worlds that he has loved and revisited countless times have long become an integral part of his growth. Undertale teaches him tolerance and kindness; Hollow Knight instills perseverance and bravery; Deltarune shows him courage and precious bonds.
The goodness, fortitude, sincerity, and wisdom conveyed in these game stories are never just virtual plots. They have turned into quiet power, accompanying, nourishing, and comforting his childhood all along.
This trip to Tokyo for the love of indie games is not only a heartfelt pilgrimage to beloved game IPs, but also a pure, warm parent-child memory we will cherish forever.
